Once again, Music Director Steve Eva and the Chagrin Studio Orchestra bring you an entertaining musical experience to the intimate setting of the Chagrin Valley Little Theater. This time, presented in collaboration with Opera per Tutti (directed by Scott Skiba) and the Western Reserve Chorale (directed by David Gilson) – two of Cleveland’s finest Performing Arts organizations.
“The Mikado” is heralded as “the best of Gilbert and Sullivan” and epitomizes the British tongue in cheek humor still prevalent today with the likes of Monty Python, Benny Hill and Rowan Atkinson.
“The Mikado” is an Operetta…a cross-over between opera and what we know today as Musical Theater. It features professionally trained voices and chorus but is interspersed with dialogue more typical of musical theater. The plot of the show is a silly parody on Japanese culture about a Lord High Executioner who is just too nice a guy for the job. The story twists and turns and, in the end, nobody loses their head…everything you would expect from Gilbert and Sullivan.
This presentation will be “In Concert”, lightly costumed with the full orchestra and chorus on stage. Much of the dialogue is cut and the music itself will carry the audience through the story in one Act without Intermission and will end in time for you to still enjoy the night life of Chagrin Falls after the show.
Come share the music with us.

Do not miss this event featuring concert pianists Dmitri Levkovich and Marina Radiushina!
This concert is the ultimate in musical sharing. Together with the orchestra, both Dmitri and Marina will reach right out into your heart with the most romantic music ever written. They both re-define the musical experience.

Dmitri Levkovich
No matter what your musical background or taste, this concert will reach you. This will be Dmitri’s 3rd performance on the CVLT stage. This master pianist has performed with the finest orchestras all over the world including our own Cleveland Orchestra…and yet, Dimitri describes performing on our own CVLT stage to the Chagrin audience as a “thrilling musical experience…one that he has looked forward to all year”.
For this concert, Dmitri has chosen to bring the Rachmaninoff #4 piano concerto to life. This lesser known work features a gentle second movement that is perhaps the composer’s best effort ever. In place of the 3rd Movement, Dmitri has asked to insert the single movement Prokofiev Piano Concerto #1. This exciting rhythmic piece will bring you right out of your chair.

Marina Radiushina
Marina Radiushina will bring a commanding presence to the stage as she performs the intimate Grieg Piano Concerto in A Minor. Donald Rosenberg, music critic of The Plain Dealer, referred to her artistry as “the essence of expressive fervor and discipline.” A Ukrainian-American, Radiushina has won the Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Poland, and the Cleveland Institute of Music concerto competition. She made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2008.
The Studio Orchestra will introduce the evening with music from Tchaikovsky’s Ballet, Swan Lake.
The thunderous applause and cheers from the standing ovation crowd last year still echo in the halls of the Theater. Come share the excitement as Steve Eva and the Chagrin Falls Studio Orchestra present a new vision in musical entertainment.
